The board:
This game is playable on checker board consisting of 10×10=100 blocks. Fifty blocks of this board have color contrasting to that of other fifties. Complimentary colors viz red-green, violet-orange, yellow-blue etc are the usual colors of blocks. Shataksh men of each side, needless to say, must be colored differently not only from each other, from that of the board too, so that they appear very conspicuous and visible to the players by themselves. This is only to make the men conspicuous with no strain to our eyes.
The Vertical rows are called “lanes” being marked with a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,I,j while Horizontal ones are called “ranks” and marked with numerals from 1 to 10.

The Roth is placed on the block just right to middle-line i.e. f1 or e10 . Chief takes place on left block f10 or e1. Next side blocks to them are filled up by either a pair of Nite or a pair of Bull as the player selects. Now, horizontally next blocks room two Bulls, then two nites and outermost blocks room two forts. In 2nd & 9th rank of ‘e’ and ‘f ’ lanes, two blocks are filled up by two Gojs. All eight blocks of this rank room eight piks one in each block.
